On my drive into work there are two reasonably decent opportunities for drivers to demonstrate their skills at pulling "hole shots". (It does take skill and concentration to pull the perfect hole shot, my friends, don't doubt that for a moment!) To fluidly accelerate past the unsuspecting soul who will soon be behind you, then perform a smooth, non-disruptive-to-the-flow-of-traffic re-insertion of yourself (a.k.a. merge) back into the flow of traffic is truly a skill.
Unfortunately, what can be a fantastically satisfying vehicular maneuver is often thwarted by fellow drivers who are clearly disconnected from the world around them. I had just about ignited my second turbo this morning, ready to slip and slide my way into a perfectly-sized slot in the weekday nose-to-tail, when some jackass decided to slow down and take my spot. ILLEGAL MANEUVER! I was forced to wave off, slow down myself and ungracefully wedge between a couple of lumbering SUVs. The horror of it all! Perhaps I will suggest to my local law enforcement officer that they start issuing tickets for "failure to drive with finesse".

I needed that. yes...finesse should be measured in a (traffic)court of law.
I'll start the petition...
